About Wilderness
Wilderness is a prominent getaway town along the N2 national highway on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa, about Fifteen km east of George and 450 km east of Cape Town’s location. Its white sand beach, with a total length of eight kilometres along with the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, makes this fine holiday destination, amongst other things, a spot for water sports fans.
The N2 national road separates Wilderness in two. While some residences and lodges have been built in a dune section nearby the seaside, the business district and the remaining town are located along the motorway and lagoon. The lagoon’s mountainous land section boasts rich vegetation in its forest areas, including ericas, ferns, milkwood trees, orchids and proteas. The freshwater of mountain rivers and the Indian Ocean’s seawater also create an ideal environment for marine creatures, such as dolphins.
