More than 200 different blooming plant species and more than 100 distinct tree species, may be found in this reserve. Frogs, butterflies, fish, and several bird species also call it home. Malachite kingfishers, pied kingfishers, sandpipers, herons, spoonbills, royal ibises, kelp gulls, stilts, white-breasted gannets, Cape gannets, cormorants, and the classy black oystercatcher are more birds to keep an eye out for.
Both an Indigenous Garden and an Entrance Garden may be found inside the nature reserve’s boundaries. Both display beautiful vegetation and the little critters that like living on and eating it. There are also cricket and soccer fields accessible for young children with plenty of enthusiasm.
Not only is it relaxing to walk your dog or stroll along the walkways, but it’s also a visual treat. You may snorkel, kayak, kitesurf, or swim along the lagoon’s beaches while you stroll around the shoreline. Your Steenbok expedition will have a stunning background provided by the Knysna Heads, which are just ahead.
With roughly six hours from Cape Town and about three hrs from Port Elizabeth, Knysna sits on the Garden Route midway between George and Plettenberg Bay. European vacationers are drawn there annually by its famed natural riches and splendour.
